Trying New Things

This post is experimental, posted from the kindle.  It's pretty much taken all day to figure it out.  But hopefully it's going to open up my options a bit.

Watercolor Monotypes

Thanks to the Joan Mitchell Foundation I took a two day watercolor monotype workshop at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop at the beginning of August.  I've never been much of a printmaker but the workshop seemed like a great opportunity to do a little networking and learn something new.  Turns out I love it.  These are three of my workshop prints.  I'm making more in the studio right now but I haven't printed anything yet.  Can't wait to get to a press and see what I've got.

Noticing the Little Things

These tiny little flowers were sticking out between the boardwalk railings this morning.  My first sunny walk in a while and I saw my first Bobolink.  We are starting to settle into the rhythm of the semester and finding ways to get us all where we need to be.

Green Heron

This is the second time I've seen this Green Heron in this spot.  So amazingly close!!  I hope he's still around when I get my lens back.

Not Fall

I've been reprimanded at work several times for saying it's Fall.  Apparently it's not Fall until the 22nd.  And since it was 92 degrees yesterday I can't argue.  However, I just have to say, for me Fall starts the day I start teaching the Fall semester.  But Summer seems determined to hang around just a bit longer.

Get Your Life Together

This was the closest I've gotten to a Wood Duck but of course I don't have my 300mm lens back yet.  It's at the repair shop awaiting a brand new VR (motor?...system??) something like that.  I know he told me but I never remember those kinds of details.  Anyway after all the chaos of the summer and sadness of death and dying I'm trying to get back on my schedule.  I keep thinking of it as my "normal" schedule but with my 20 hours of counting money a week it's really a brand new schedule.  Today, for example, I just needed to stay home and, as my co-worker Deja says, "Get my life together."

Big George

A photo of Olivia, Matt, and Big George from last year.  Matt's dad died last week so we've been a bit busy with trips back and forth to Ohio.  The grandkids are going to miss this guy.
