Catching Up

I'm starting to poke my head above water and look around.  The end of the semester is in sight.  I have visions of studio time and hiking in my future.  Oh, and jury duty, cause why not.  This is only my 7th or 8th summons.  Sigh.

Champs

It was very exciting to see our Marple Newtown High School Marching Band take first place in Sunday's Championship Competition.  Four years of hard work paid off with a big win.  A little bitter sweet as it marks the end of Marching Band for our Senior.

Foggy Sunrise

Lately I've been so overwhelmed that I leave photos on the camera for days.   This is highly unusual behavior for someone who normally gets to it first thing.  It's also not very helpful for blogging.  Sigh.  Friday morning, as you can see, was terribly beautiful.

Fall Walk

The weather has been so beautiful lately.  I can't resist sneaking in some extra walks.

Expressive Self Portraits

Images from this weeks Complementary Color assignment.  This remains my favorite color assignment and this group made some really nice compositions.  These are by two Samantha's and one Lindsay.

Dutchman's Pipe

Longwood Gardens did have plants other than coleus.  And I did look at them.  I even took a few photos.  I haven't seen this Dutchman's Pipe before.  The flower is HUGE.

Studio

I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up weekly studio posts.  I'm not sure if things are changing that much from week to week.  It's all part of the studio process, this uncertainty, not being sure.

Longwood Coleus

It's been about a year and a half since my last visit to Longwood Gardens.  It's been on my mind quite a bit lately, what with my coleus obsession and all.  And wouldn't you know,  Matt came home with two free tickets from a co-worker who bought extra on a groupon.  So Wednesday I took myself off to Longwood.  And did they have coleus??  Tons of varieties.  I actually got tired of photographing them.  Shame on me.  But I got so tired I could barely bring myself to take new photos when I stumbled upon another variety.  I may have even sighted one in the distance and averted my gaze.  I'm sure it's the effect of my lingering "you don't have pneumonia, you're fine, I'm sure the stuff you are coughing up out of your lungs doesn't exist now please pay me $35."

These are some of the fantastic varieties.  I couldn't find name tags for the first two but the last three are "Coleosaurs", "Wasabi", and "Big Bob."  I love Bob.
