Rose Garden

I stepped into the Crane Courtyard Wednesday to see the roses.  They were just past their prime and still covered in water droplets from all our rain.  I found a beautiful mixture of decay, robust beauty, and new buds waiting for their turn to bloom.

A Beautiful Day

Yesterday was a beautiful day! I spent some time at the studio (the white arrow points to my space), met Matt downtown for lunch, and stopped by ICA to see the Sheila Hicks show. And what a show! This piece really knocked me over.

Inspiring Textures & Beautiful Flowers

I took a few photos out in the rain today. The roses are out in Nick Kripal's garden in the Crane courtyard. They are absolutely stunning. Nick is starting a new garden across from the Crane which is already looking promising. Today the light rain really brought out the texture in the walls. And since I have what my sister calls "texture issues" I couldn't resist posting a photo of that as well.

Cool Views of the Crane Courtyard

This image pretty much describes the past, oh I don't know, SIX months!!! I took this about a month ago but as I sit here writing it's pouring rain again. At least it made good light for photographing some of the beautiful plants in the Crane Arts courtyard. I believe Nicholas Kripal does the garden. I know that's his sculpture a few photos down.

Renovation

Elevator renovations were underway at the studio so of course I needed to take some photos. The Crane Building has so many great surfaces and textures!

Random Photo from the Past: Rachel Bomze & Arden Bendler Browning

I initially intended to go through my cds of photos and choose one image from each cd. When I encountered the studio photos I couldn’t help but post them all. It’s been inspiring for me to look back to 2005 and remember what everyone was making. Perhaps I’ll have to travel the country to update the studio views.

I’m almost finished with my double spiral piece…I think. It’s been a long difficult road and I forgot to bring my camera to the studio this morning so you’ll have to wait for a visual update. In the mean time, here’s the last of my studio photos from 2005. Back then Arden Bendler Browning and Rachel Bomze were sharing a space at the Crane Arts Building in Philadelphia.

Rachel in red with a glimpse of her painting behind her. Below two of Arden's pieces in progress.
